Frederic Remington, The Charge of the Rough Riders,
1898, Frederic Remington Art Museum, Ogdensburg, New York
Matured, sobered, and haunted by this
experience of modern warfare, Remington soon began to explore—in
his art—the ramifications of what he had seen. To fulfill his obligations
as a correspondent, he quickly produced a number of images documenting
American troop maneuvers in Cuba.
